Sparkle! Art for the Future

Sparkle! Art for the Future

Oi! is delighted to launch the “Sparkle!” exhibition series at our new art space where we are already striking up a close collaboration with curators, artists and community groups to showcase and promote the creative arts. In the “Sparkle!” series, we set out to boost experimental art and public engagement in artistic creation and exhibition with the aim of stimulating discussion and exploration of the dynamic relationship between art, contemporary life and social issues.

“Sparkle!” brings together seven curators – Gum Cheng, Janet Fong, Kwok Ying, Orlean Lai, Lee Chun-fung, Vivian Ting and Yeung Yang – who will use Oi! as a springboard and a platform to plan and stage exhibitions and other events that will carve a new direction in creative art. By exploring art’s relationship with the development of a progressive society, they will confirm its contemporary relevance and embed it into daily life.

We have also invited young designer Karr Yip, who has extensive experience in architecture, design and art projects, to work together with the curators on “Sparkle! Art for the Future”, the kick-off exhibition in the series. This exciting collaboration will showcase their ideas on the relationship between contemporary art and life and how they seek to engage and empower the public to develop a new vision of that relationship. Want to know more? Don’t miss the “Sparkle! Art for the Future” exhibition and the individual projects of the curators, which will run throughout 2014 and 2015. Stay tuned!
